With Kasey Jordan
Episode Summary
In today’s special edition Passion to Action podcast, you will meet Maine Girl Scout, 17-year-old Kasey Jordan. Kasey is working on her Gold Award Project, Tiny Steps, with a goal of helping homeless female veterans. The Girl Scout’s Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and can unlock opportunities including academic scholarships. Requirements for this award encompass them recognizing an issue or problem they want to tackle, doing the research to decide how they will do this in a sustainable way, putting their plan into action, and analyzing the results.
When I met Kasey I was impressed by the magnitude of what she is undertaking at such a young age – well honestly, at any age at all – and what she has already accomplished. The scope and detail of Tiny Steps is exceptional, with the potential of far-reaching results. This is is a very involved and comprehensive project with a lot of moving pieces. When I asked her what the most important thing she wants people to know her project is, she said “the purpose, and the why”
Kasey and I will be discussing her project in detail, how she came up with the idea, what this entails, what she has done so far, and of course – the purpose and the why.
