With Kristen McAlpine
Episode Notes
Once upon a time, people’s perception of Girl Scouts was of girls singing around campfires, earning badges, and selling cookies. That is no longer the case! While girl scouts still do participate in these activities, they are also learning leadership skills to help with their careers.
On top of that, financial literacy is a component of girl scouting that aims to help girls develop confidence in money matters.so they can learn to make sound financial decisions and develop a healthy relationship with money.
That’s why we thought it would be fun and educational to combine both of these topics and do a podcast focused on careers in the banking industry.
And who better to do that with than our collaboration partner in the Passion to Action Series – First National Bank?
Today I’ll be talking with Kristen McAlpine, Corporate Engagement and Development Officer at First National Bank in Maine.
Kristen is the 2023 winner of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Sarah Dubay Professional Service Award. Recognized as an individual who embodies a generous spirit and donates her expertise over an extended period to both the chamber and the community at large – Kristen is a Daughter of Change who is leading the charge in the banking industry.
Kristen has worked in banking for 18 years, rising through the ranks to the position she holds today. We’ll discuss the trajectory of her career, how to harness the power of networking and mentorship, the benefits of a career in banking, and how the traditionally male-dominated banking field is becoming an opportunity-filled career path for women.
