Episode Summary
Bunmi Emenanjo is an attorney, a mom, and an entrepreneur. She started Atlas Book Club in her home in 2016 in efforts to have her kids develop knowledge of their African heritage. She felt it was important that they read books where they saw themselves represented, and that they were exposed to books that reflected other cultures and served as windows into the world. What started out as a family book club focused on African countries, grew into an exploration of different cultures and countries from around the world. She witnessed how her children, and others who participated in the book club, connected with the different cultures through the selected books. She became even more passionate about sharing this transformative experience with kids nationwide. It has since grown into a company which explores different countries and cultures all over the world through the books that they select for the Atlas Book Club boxes.
